Expat Home Buyers
W hen we were introduced to Brendan Davis and Kristy Baker they were busy preparing to repatriate from Bahrain and had a baby on the way. They were looking for a long-term home within 10kms of the Brisbane CBD that would have the potential to renovate or knock down and rebuild in the future.
Ideally, the property would be a timber Queenslander or post-war style with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, open plan living, a lock-up garage and be close to local amenities and public transport. It also needed to be within their $700,000 budget.
We found a low-set timber post war home with a recently updated kitchen and bathroom. It featured 3 sizable bedrooms, open plan living and dining, and a lock-up garage. The home was on a fully fenced 610m2 flat block that was within walking distance to local parks, shops, schools and public transport. The property also had the potential for future renovation including knock down and rebuild, if they so desire, to create a larger family home. The market appraisal was $700-710,000, and the property was listed as ‘Offers over $655,000’, we were able to negotiate the purchase price of $660,000.
