Expat Home Buyers
S teward was an expat from Singapore who wanted a home for his lovely family, which included three primary school aged children. The house needed to be low maintenance on a 750m2 or larger block and have 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study, guest room, multiple living areas, and room for a pool.
It also needed to be in the Centenary State High School, Indooroopilly State High School, The Gap State High School or MacGregor State High School catchment areas and be within 1km of the local shops, parks and public transport. The budget was $1.1M.
After an extensive search, we found a large brick home in good condition with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a guest room, multiple living areas with modern finishes, a double lock-up garage with two additional car spaces and a pool. It was situated on a 1,499m2 block with ample useable yard space, was close in proximity to local shops, parks and public transport. It was also located in the Centenary State High School catchment area. The property was initially listed for $1,165,000 and then revised to offers over $1,000,000. We were able to negotiate the seller down to $1,060,000.
Professional. Personable. Patient. Productive. That’s how we found PP and Nathan Wunsch as our buyer’s agent. We never had the feeling they were pushing us to buy a particular property, even after they said it “ticks most of your boxes” and we had been on their books for 10 months!
The Key Information table provided after each inspection was helpful and objective. Nathan willingly expanded on the “pros”, “cons” and “works needed”, when asked. Using a floor plan of the property, and Nathan’s comprehensive set of Dropbox photos, we knew exactly how each inspected property looked (I flew to Brisbane especially to check on one place, and it was exactly how I had been led to believe it looked). When we started negotiating for the property that we ultimately bought, we didn’t feel the need to fly down: We knew our interests were in good hands!
